Ok, this is a very specific question for anyone who has removed a driver's seat (My car is a 91 300 E):
What tools are best for this proceedure? For example, lenth of extention and flexible joint if any.
When I push the down botton for the rear of the seat, only the left side goes down. The seat twists in a manner that can only be discribed as fully disturbing.
Now I'm Not talking about where your back rests, I mean the left rear corner where my butt goes. I'm hoping it is just a simple fix like a wire is pinched or unpluged. I can't get my puggy fingers in there to check with out removing the seat.
And how in the heck do I get to the bolts on the right side which sandwich the consul?
Any help will be most appreciated. And BTW, if this thread looks kinda familar, well, it is. But as par usual, the thread took a turn in a strange way and has nothing to do with seats anymore.(grin)
Thanks all

I guess everyone is busy with the flame match that is going on in another post. I'm gonna just keep out of that. Hopefully someone will take pity on my seat problem and help me try to shed some light.
Here's what I know so far:
Power is getting to the plug on the right side motor for rear base of the seat up and down. There seems to be some module tucked up in there. I'm assuming that it is this module that is the problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on this module?

At least not when I'm around. [}:)]
Regarding the seat, I can't speak for your car, however for the ML or the W203 C-class, in order to unbolt the seat from the floor, what they seem to do is to move the seat all of the way forward. There are then a couple of bolts per side, at the base of the seat frame or in the seat rail track, which then have to be loosened. After that, move the seat back in order to access the front bolts.
The module that you are referring to is most likely the seat memory module I think. I'm not certain if those were incoporated into the door, as the newer cars now are.
Sure it's not the switch, they get carbon coated and don't work as well if they were clean. I'd put in a switch that works to test before you go and pull the seat.

My friend is a Cadi mechanic and he said there was power from the switch when he tested it. The power got lost at the modual to the motor.
I tried to find something like a price for this modual but had no success. Aditioanlly, the CD's had no mention of the modual. It did point to another part on the cd, but i could not find it. Does anyone know the price of the modual or atleast it's name?

Thanks for the replies.
If you do, or better yet a part number, I might be able to help you to get a price on it.
The part # should be on the module itself. I would go find a recycler/junkyard and find a replacement module. Just make sure it's the module you want and not the switch. You don't want to buy unecessary parts for this car they are quite expensive.

Well I guess my next step will be to pull the seat and look for a part number. There are a few reasons why I don't believe it is the switch.
1. The seat does go up and down on the left side, but not the right. The switch should move both motors in unison so I believe it would be one contact for two motors. Otherwise, people would have lopsided butts because they did not hit the switch corectly and one side would move first throwing off the whole seat.
2. The wiring appears to go into a powerstrip which is making the test light go on when the button is pushed. So the switch must be working.
I do believe I am getting close to the solution though.
3. The wiring into the module has power and is activily showing switch signal. However, between the module and the motor there is an open circut.
If I had a wiring diagram, I'm sure there is a way to elinate the module which most likely is for the seat memory. But I think I would not want to rig my Mercedes.
