Making more power! Muffler, intake, etc...

hello everyone,
From what I understand the W124 has 2 mufflers. I want my car to be louder, but I dont want to spend 600 dollars on a Supersprint or Remus exhaust. I was wondering if anyone knows about removing one of the mufflers. And if I did this, would I lose backpressure, resulting in a loss of power?

Also, do these cars benefit from a custom intake? Or do those Germans know what they are doing and does the car already have an intake with minimum restrictions?

Another question...I read on someone's post about removing a relay that is near the brake fluid resovoir to gain horsepower...does anyone know anything about this?

Another thing, I also read about making a modification to the throttle for quicker downshifts and for the gears to be held longer, but I dont know what the modification is, or if it works.

One more thing,I also read about removing the R16/1 resistor for more power. Something about retarding the ignition- I know nothing about this and would like to learn, and am curious if it does anything.

Thanks very much!
