SHOW:
1)new lights all around is a must(heads, corners, tails). cheapest way to make your car look dope.

2) in my opinion tinting improves the look of any w124 ten fold. play it safe if you go darker than 35%. dont want to have to remove the $300 of tint you payed for. i have 20%.. so far no problems with the law, i just avoid giving them a reason to pull me over(ie: speeding excessivly), chances are slim that youll get pulled over just for the tint.

3) sound. get rid of the stock system.

4) suspension (http://www.evolutionsports.com)

5) wheels and tires (http://www.tirerack.com)

GO:
Really no bolt ons i can think of other than an air filter. anything your gonna do to make it faster is gonna be custom and its gonna be costly. ie: mosselman turbo.

glad to hear your sticking with the benz. all in all, im sure after a few upgrades youll be happy with it. and remeber to post some pics.

Yeah id be alot less leery about putting on euros than tinting my windows limo dark, although really dark tinted windows would look great on my car, and I dont think the cops are gonna stop me..
come on man, you gotta get the limo tint for sure. First thing I did when I got my black on black 300E a few months ago was get the limo tint done. I live in the Phoenix area and am almost always driving in heavily populated urban areas where cops are plentiful and have never been pulled over for it. And if you see a cop just roll down your windows or a window or two so more light gets in. But the tint is fun--looks good and it's funny to pull up next to people and see them starin in trying to see you or take a quick glance cuz they dont know if youre looking back.

I think i'm going to purchase the autorice.com perfect fitting S600 grille as one of my preliminary mods. That would look great.
Have you considered trying to find a later W124 in a breakers yard and 'updating' by changing the bonnet, lights etc.

Well, my color unfortunately is semi rare.. At least for the E320's.. Its that misty diamond blue..

Regarding the cops knowing about your Euro lights...

No matter where you live I HIGHLY doubt any cop will pull you over. Remember cops are just guys with radar detectors and guns (no offense if any are in the forum [:D], but seriously, I think they would agree that although they deal with lighting issues a lot, they aren't experts on Mercedes, specifically W124 lights. They will look stock to a cop. My Euro's are pretty bright with my xenon charged bulbs and those freakin PIAA fog's. The cop might not like the fogs, but even then, so many offroaders have fogs, and cops don't do anything. Cops are more worried about ticketing those with blue lights and windshield washer led things. I wouldn't worry about it AT ALL, as I have driven by cops I don't know, and even have had strobe lights in my Euro's. (The city light hole is perfect for the hideaway strobe)
