the front seats on my '89 300ce no longer lock and will fold forward even if the car is moving. before, the seats automatically lock when the doors were closed. around the same time this happened my rear headrests no longer wanted to go down when i pressed the console button. is the seat lock vacum operated also? what do i need to check?
I have the same problem on mine. It's on my to-do list as soon as other issues are taken ...

This system is vacuum operated. It would help to get a hold of the schematic and track down the problem. You may have to remove the seats to get at the vacuum controls.
Your headrest problem should be unrelated. Mine too gave out and are since repaired. Does the motor hum when you try to use it? If so, to repair, take the rear cover off the seat, and the mechanism is easy to repair from there. There's a small plastic rack-and-pinion assembly that breaks. They should cost roughly $16.50 for each seat. Others have reported that they repair the original assembly using plastic ties.

thanks, i do hear a click when i press the headrest switch. i've seen the control valve where the vacum hoses come into for the headrest, must be stuck when i join the hoses directly the headrests drop. there's an almost identical control valve but with blue vacum hoses next to it and i suspect these are for the seats.

Please help: non-locking front seat on coupe!!!!!!!!
I just bought a w124 coupe...and taking it apart I found that a whole set of components are missing from underneath the rear passenger seat. These components, make the seat locks work and the rear headrests go down. That much I figure out from the forums. BUT I dont know what they look like nor do i have any part numbers.
Does anyone have an idea what (and how many components) there are inside the cavity. I have nothing! Except for vacume tubes and electrical connectors (including one that looks like a parallel printer port connector.

Hey there,
Where is rack-and-pinion assembly located? Underneath the rear seat (in a cavity?) Anybody have a part no?
Thanks
