Quoted $600.00 to change Accumulators in the rear susp.
Need to have the accumulators/ suspension bladders replaced in a '95 E320 wagon. Dealer quoted $600 to do the job. $268 for parts + 5hr labor. Is this a fair price ?
I did those on our TE myself a few months ago. Only took me a couple of hours and that was sliding in and out on my back under the car which was only on ramps.
Nothing special to it. You need the right size open ended spanners (wrenches) and allen key for the hydraulic connections (which were very tight on mine) as well as sockets with extensions (sorry, I can't remember the sizes of all these). Space is at a premium around the one above the level control valve. Oh, and I'd should mention, they live above the floor which is why you can't see them from underneath. You need to remove the carpeted false floor between the second and third row of seats to remove them through the passenger compartment after the hydraulic lines have been disconnected.
It is a messy job as fluid will escape from the system and this needs replenishing. Some use this opportunity to replace all the fluid. Cleanliness needs to be observed.
