Euro tail lamps for W124 300TE (wagon)???

Is there a euro style rear tail light assembly for the W124 300TE (wagon) that does not have the orange/yellow turn signal portion? If so, where would I buy them?

Tail lamps

The late '93 update (E220, E280, E320) onwards have what you are after. I'm pretty sure that, like the sedans, coupes and cabriolets, the wagons got the smokey clear turn signal lenses at the rear from the late '93 update. These also changed from amber to clear turn signals at the front. Even if aftermarket versions are not available, the genuine articles should be available from an authorised MB spare parts outlet.

Greg, from what I've seen the US Spec 300TE's or E320 wagons had the amber band in the tail lights regardless of the year. Also, Performance Product only carries stock 300TE replacements that have the amber band.

For those 300TE owners outside of the US do your tail lamps have the amber colored band or are they just red & clear bands only?

US spec cars

I always realised that US delivered Mercedes-Benz were different to those for other markets, but all the time I am finding out about even more differences. I work from MB North America workshop manuals as they are all that are available to us in English here in Australia. Those manuals make me realise just how different your cars are and I need to be constantly aware of those variations. Obviously, like your unique headlights, you also got unique tail lights. You also got unique badging on some models (see my recent posting W124 Badging). In Australia, we got what are basically standard "Euro" spec cars only in right hand drive.

I will take a look at a late W124 wagon for you next time I see one (they are fairly rare here) and confirm for you that if, like the sedans, coupes and cabriolets, they got tail lights with a smokey-clear turn signal rather than amber. I'm pretty sure they did.

Yep, late spec E320 Wagons here in the UK have grey/smoke tails

I suspect your best bet will be to order them online from a parts supplier in Germany or the UK.

ive found a set of w124 wagon Crystal red/white tail lights on eBay. ive seen them on the car and they look good, but id prefer to see them slightly smoked where it is white. they do exist, they are just $279.

any leads on a cheaper place?

two styles below:

I really think that the second model looks WAY better than the "cheap EBay looking" first. Wel.... just an opinion.

when i had my 400E, i got smoked taillights and smoked corners for it from importvision. sometimes they have sales but i've never seen the wagon taillights go on sale (and i was checking back regularly a while back, since i've been wanting to get them for my wagon but don't really want to pay almost $300 for them).

they're a little pricey and they're not too fast with shipping. but the stuff i got from them was good -- good fit, no leaks or fogging.
