400e transmission problems

My transmission in my 400e revs 3000 to about 5000 rpms after every gear change. Recently reverse has stopped working unless I rev it up to about 6000 rpms wich is very dangerous for my engine. I had it serviced and it worked better for a little while. But now it is worse than it ever was. Is it is a vacumm problem or do i just need to rebuild the transmission.

Re: 400e transmission problems

Probably not an all vacuum problem...Your transmission sounds like it needs a serious overhaul. A Vacumm problem would only make it shift rough not overrev. There is an adjustment on the transmission that might make it a little better. It is on the left side under a small black cover. Pull out the bar and turn once or twice. You might be able to make it a little better until the transmission fails.
