2.6 and 3.0 idle surging - Benzworld.org

I seem to have a problem with my 300E 2.6 6 cylinder. For reasons I dont know it refuses to idle consistently. It will surge only at idles between a very low idle and a very high idle. The mechanics at my local independent euro shop seem to be puzzled. Also sometimes when the idle dips really low the engine will stall. Are there any causes for this ailement? thank you, Jayme

I had the same problem I think. Does the idle occillate between 600 & 1800 rpms approx.? I removed the idle control valve and cleaned it out with gumout really well. At first it didn't seem any better but shortly thereafter it cleared up and has been fine ever since(knock on wood). Good luck. P.S. the idle control valve is under the air cleaner near the front of the motor. Pete R.

My 4 matic light keeps on lighting up from time to time. What could be the problem? and how do you maintain it?
