*W124 Wooden Console info * Help Please!*

Hi all, I need some assistance please!!<br>W124 220E Wooden Console ( the one that fits over the transmission lever, and houses the elec. window switches etc) - there is a hole or space forward of the transmission lever about 1,5" sq, - what is this space supposed to house? Please help, I need to locate this part and no-one in South Africa seems to know. If you know and have the part number I would be most grateful. Many thanks, Darryn SA

Is your car an automatic or manual? I have never seen a hole there. Am I understanding you right, the hole is between the gear lever and the Ash tray, about 1.5 inch square? Do you have all the following switches: Four Window switches, Mirror control, child lock, and fader control?? Gary -Sunny SA too!! (E320 & '72 280SE)

<center><img src="http://216.122.199.143/gallery/goto.asp?id=336"></center><p>If you mean that you have a hole between the gear shift and ash tray, it is possibly for the electrical heated seats (stuck in on the outer sides of the panel).<p>However...1,5" square sounds larger so it may be possible that the hole has something to do with the "standheizung", an additional heater system...<p>Are the edges in the hole dark and painted or light and unpainted. It will tell the difference between stock and after market...<p>greetingz,<p>

It is for the heater control unit. Quite common up here in the cold north.. (Sweden). If you don't have the heater, I suggest you just order a new piece of wood without the hole...
