Re: 124 wheels

: which wheels look best on a 124 the classic 8 hole or the 5 hole found on some late model 124s. Also which would look best chrome or polished
I personally prefer the 8 hole classic wheels in a 16" Size for the 124 series cars. They look excellent.
I think they look great in both chrome and painted, so its really a matter of how you see it.
I prefer the painted ones myself for my own car, but the chromes ones look just as good.
The only reason I prefer to not go with chrome is that they tend to start peeling after a while. I've had bad experiences with chrome wheels before, where the chrome was peeling at the lip between the tire and the rim, which caused air leaks. But that was on a pair of Centra's on an 87 560SEL
I don't think you can go wrong with the 8 hole classics.
I personally think the 5 hole wheels dont suit the 124 series cars but they look fine on the w210 cars.
In anycase, its really just a matterof taste.
Go to www.tirerack.com you can see what different wheels will look like on your car. And if you call, ask for Luke. he's the guru over there, and will be able to help you with whatever you need.
I can't wait till I can get my factory 8 hole wheels...
Alon Asherson

8 hole wheel

I have a 95 E320. I am thinking of changing to these 16" 8 hole wheels too, but i have seen it on other E class and the wheels stick out of the front and rear fenders, do you have to roll the fenders out?

No. They are 8 x 16" and they just fit perfect.

These were used on '97 124's. All are available in chrome, which looks best-or least gaudy-with a dark color MB.

I have the same MB wheels (16/7.5 ET 41) this and in case anyone has one front spring that is slightly worn you may get rub in hard cornering at rear of wheel. Before proceeding it is recommended to have ride checked out as well that caster can be broughht into spec. I have unfortunatly a worn spring and small caster problem on the right side of my 92 300CE which conspire to require me to get new springs all round.

I'm also contemplating selling out and going back to my wimpy 15 inch 195/65/15. Not a happy camper!

update

I had 1/2 in spacers put in at the lower fender mount point and it seems to have solved the problem. Also provides a somewhat faired-in look!
