The reflectors inside the terrible output lamp assemblies would also need to be replaced. I had visited Peter Hack's site (www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/) several times. Anyone could see the blatant difference that all glass, high output, Euro's would make. It's no surprise that these Bosch assemblies fit perfectly, after all, these are the light assemblies that were designed for the 124 body, and all other Mercedes. As soon as you leave America, you will notice that all MB's have "Euro" headlights. During the eighties, many european autos came to this country with some sort of plastic headlight door(surround)and small, sealed beam headlights. The D.O.T. required U.S. bound vehicles to be supplied this way. Why? No one really knows. Some say it is because there are no little glass nipples to allow headlight aiming. Everyone who has Euro's knows that there are two very precise aiming controls behind each assembly. Aiming Euro's is a cinch! The big deal about these assemblies is their ability to use 80/100 H4 bulbs with no damage to the wiring. Oncoming cars are not "blinded by the light" because Euro's project from the bottom of the assembly, not into the eyes of other drivers. They are worth every penny! Peter Klein
Thanks Scott!! A couple of more questions if you don't mind =)
Do you know the website of In pro ? $300 sounds like a reasonable price
to pay!! Also does it illuminate the road better ? Do you think it's
worth it ?
Thank you again
Regards,
Adrian P.
: : My lens got cracked today and I now have a reason for the wifey to allow to buy a new one.
How much did it cost and where'd you get them!!
Thanks for any inputs.
Adrian P.
Yeah....I just upgraded mine 2 weeks ago...but I paid the shop $60 to
do it for me, so I can't help with the technical side.
Good Luck

Thanks Peter. I ordered mine yesterday. I'll post on how it goes when I get it.

Re: Anyone here upgrade to the European headlights ?
I just picked up a '88 300TE with plastic lenses
and would like to upgrade to brighter lights. It
certainly sounds like the european style headlight
is the way to go. I've looked at bekkers.com but
they seem expensive, around $450 or more depending
if the turn indicator is clear or orange. I like
the sound of solving this illuminating problem for
somthing in the ballpark of $300.
So where did you get yours for $300 and which brand
to you end up with? I'm only familar with the Bosch
lens. Are there others?
~Bob
