uro parts? no thanks. learned that lesson long ago. as for the mounts, i'm going with mehle. they've modified the oem spec by adding more aluminum to the inner mount tube making them more rigid and durable. -$30 ea.
Meyle? You're falling victim to a very clever advertising campaign. Yes they are a German 'owned' company, NO their parts are not made in Germany but places like Turkey & India. Their parts boxes may have 'Germany' stamped on them, but somewhere the part will identify where it's made and it ain't 'Germany'.
Yes on paper they re-engineer parts to make them 'stronger/better' sometimes, but the above mentioned folks make them. In this business you get what you pay for. Suggest rather, that you stay with OE.
i've used meyle parts many, many, many, many times! no problems yet. considering i've never seen the meyle advertising campaign, am i victim? i should mention that the meyle mounts list for about the same as the sachs - boge (oem). my parts contact had them in his warehouse gathering dust and wanted to get rid of them, hence the bargain. same with the shocks - kyb's not sachs(oem) for $70 ea. my apologies to all the purists out there! i anticipate absolutely no loss of performance and considering the vehicle shows 177xxx miles i believe that performance will be enhanced.

Yeah, you're becoming a 'victim'. Lots of people on this forum use aftermarket parts. I gave you the facts on the company, but it's entirely your choice. And you did see some of Meyle's advertising speak if you know the part about 're-engineering parts better than OE'. I really don't care which and what you use other than I become a 'victim' if I buy a 124 that has had cheap parts other than OE put into it. And by 'cheap', I mean hit & miss manufacturing in third world countries. To me it's a no-brainer if the two parts list close to the same and one is OE and one is not. And don't fall for the old ruse where for example, a Meyle parts 'lists' for $129 but you see it everywhere at a 'discount' for $50. Funny that the discount is a never ending 'special' price, right?
The stories of premature parts failure are legion just on this board. A lot of members don't care, as long as they save a buck...some give being on a tight budget as an excuse. My only stake in this are the cars left out there to buy and what the PO's have done. Sometimes you can see right off and other times you have to wait for the imminent failure...which can take a few yrs depending on the amount and severity of the driving experience. A lot of the cars therefore, get passed on again...to the point were the present owner legitimately doesn't know about any substandard parts.

In addition, those KYBs will never ride as well or last as long as the Bilsteins. I tried and used the KYBs on my old W126. It ruined the cars ride. Not worth saving a few bucks for a part that has such a direct, everyday impact.
Had to jump in on this. I am on the autohausaz site and they have Lemfoerder tie rods for $47.04. Meyle tie rods are 35.39. What you guys are saying is stick with Lemfoerder for peace of mind instead of saving 12 bucks in change with the Meyle

Is that really a question??
"I'll take a hundred dollars for 'auto knowledge', Alex...."

Its not just peace of mind....Its safety. If that's not worth $12 to you, then the bus is a good alternative, while wearing an air protective bubble suit.
There is a difference between saving money and buying OEM (ie: Lemfoerder) when its known that MB OE uses Lemfoerder for 2/3rds of the price, than it is to buying an aftermarket COPY for 1/3rd of the price.
