I've done a lot of research on this forum and in my owners manual and I thought my 1990 124.051/M104.980 was a 3.2l engine but now I have doubts as I have no OEM owners manual . Q. 3.2L or 3.0L? now I'm leaning towards 3.0 as stormy said. US car via Canada? According to EPC. the VIN IS WDB1240511B087493 and I cannot find the engine size
Your CIS-E M104.980 is indeed a 3.0L (actually 2960cc) M104 unlike the later 3.2L M104.992 motors. This unique engine variant was used briefly and only in the 300CE coupes for model years 1990-92.
The smaller displacement nets you a 7000 rpm redline while the 3.2L had to make do with 6200.
Think of your engine as the last hoorah for Bosch mechanical & continuous injection.
I didn't mean to doubt you...however I never had any documentation..I even have the owners bible 86-95 and it dose not mention anything about a 3.0 104 only the 2.8/3.2.. So you guys cleared this up and I thank you:bowdown:
I believe we have a few members here in Europe who have sedans and wagons with the M104 3.0 engines. I think the script on the trunk/hatch lid read 300E-24V and 300TE-24V
