Hi'
I have a 1992 300d It has been sitting for a few years, I have just rebuilt the engine and it is ready to go back on the road.
When I turn on the radio I hear loud base clicks from the rear speakers then nothing.
If I chance stations I get a loud click thru the rear speakers. If tuned to a powerful station i can just barely hear the station in the rear speakers. when i try to move it to the front speakers it goes dead.
The car origionally had a cellular phone and it looks like the antenna was used for either/or It has some kind of switching unit on it.

can anyone help?

Remove the antenna wire at the antenna and let it hang loose not touching anything and then try the radio. If that fails remove the radio and connect a 10' wire to the antenna connection and try the radio. It's possible the antenna switch is bad or the antenna cable is shorted.
