I have to let go of my 300TE 5 speed euro version. 1986

-manual climate controls
-cloth seats
-rear manual windows
-Red with black interior

My plan was to swap the 5 speed to my other car.
No time to do it anymore. Too many projects..:)
I already have another 5 speed wagon to drive.

Few options if you want the 5 speed transmission only.
You can take out the 5 speed tranny & related parts & leave the rest. I'll have it recycled.
Things i can lend you a jack & jackstands no other tools.

Or you can buy the whole car if you want it.
It has a starting issue right now... Won't go through.. Might need a coil. But no time to do it. Car drives well before the starting issue happened. I have a few cars so didn't fix yet..
Car is located in Vancouver Canada.

$2500

I'll post this in the For sale forum too. Hopefully it goes to a forum member..
Before i sell it on the bay...

Mods Let me know if i need to move it to the for sale thread.. Thanks..

I sure would love to have that wagon, but jeze, could you *be* any further away??? Ironically, my neighbor (and friend) was on Vancouver Island last week.

How did you come by the car and how long have you had it? How many miles? Or is the speedo in km/h?

Why is the body painted black below the belt line? What's the rust situation?

There was an 87 TD locally a few years ago, also signal red with a black interior.

<edit>

Oh, most importantly, could I even bring that into the US without huge aggravation? Does it have cats?

I think it needs a coil. Its acting up. No time to fix it right now. So i'm selling it at a lower price. Too many projects cleaning up a bit..:)

I have a new hobby right now that is keeping me a bit busy. :) If you only knew how many cars i have.. Lol... I don't really mind selling it a lower price especially if its going to a board member. It my fair share to the members.
I can always ask for more for it. I know the going price of the euro 5 speeds just wanted to share it. I have owned it for less than 2 years. I have another one of these in a different color its the one in my sig. :)

It has 240,000kms+ on it. I got it with the bottom panels painted black. I don't why they did that. Regarding rust. I have to double check again. I don't remember there might be a little but no big ones as far as i remember.... I'll look at it in the morning again. Busy fixing up the w115 :)

I desperately want a wagon but I am not looking for one right now. And I live in Kalifornistan. Unless it's California emissions certified or exempt.....

Even my 95 was scrutinised when I brought it from Washington, to make sure that it had the 50 state sticker, not a 49 state sticker. (Mercedes didn't have a separate California model by that time.)

some questions

1. The car has the 3.0 liter 103 engine?
2. With no emissions controls- EGR & cats?
3. KPH speedo?
4. Do Canadian cars have the USA Federal equipment like real bumpers (not just surround & foam impact strip but the actual steel reinforcement as well) and door side beams?
5. Is a 26 year old car exempt from being Federalized?

6. Suppose I were to buy it to bring it to the states to swap the 5 speed into my 91 300TE & part out or store as a parts car and therefore not ever intend to title it. How would I tag it to get it across the border? Now some folks in the past have simply put a set of tags from one of their other cars on to the car they just bought to drive it home, and then have it titled and tagged. Would someone theoretically dare try to do that to get it into the USA??

I was under the impression that any car over 25 years of age was exempt from any federalization

Importing...

I just went through this process for an '87 300TE 5 speed from British Columbia. I was pretty worried but couldn't pass up the deal (140,000km) so I bought it. The previous owner drove it to Bellingham WA and met my transporter and it was delivered to me two days ago. I went to get it tagged today...took two hours and $107! Exempt from EPA and DOT because of being 25 years old, it was imported to Canada in '06 from Europe and it's lacking in all the bells and whistles we're used to in this model but it drives like a dream.
So anyone interested in bringing a Canadian vehicle to the states...as long as it's 25+ years old it's not a problem at all!
