Anyone know the parts number for the lower harness for a 93 300E 2.8? I know mine needs to be replaced (insulation completely gone in some areas.) My engine harness was replaced by a PO.

Seems like I replaced both the upper main & lower right harness when I put the new motor into Rhonda's 400E, but don't remember paying that much for either part. Maybe $400 range for both harnesses. When I get my records back from my CPA office I'll look maybe we can do better pricing for those that need the harnesses. Some of the stuff came from WorldPac some from SSF. We'll see they were combined into a receipt with parts for all three cars. I'll let you know.

MY92-MY97 were the bad years. This applies to anything MB produced during this period, whether it be a lowly C220 to a fully optioned S600.

I once came a across a very early '92 500E, built in late 1991 that also had the bad wiring.

That isn't true, none of the CIS cars were affected, and none of the 97s were affected, and many of the 96s weren't.

Part number for the lower harness for a 2.8 is 124 540 42 30, lists for $137, commonly discounted.

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I find myself in the same boat with my 1992 400E with ASR. I recently had the ASR actuator and wiring rebuilt replaced with updated parts.

The origina engine wiring harness on my car is on it's last legs due to the infamous failing insulation and needs to be replaced.

The number on the harness I have now is 124 543 88 32

My questions are:

- I was also told there is a smaller sub-harness for the MAF, CPS, etc that would need to be replaced as well which carries another part number that is currently unknown to me. Any help?

- Has 124 543 88 32 been superseded? I see 124 440 19 06 also listed as a compatible harness. I also see 124 543 77 27 as a possible harness for ASR cars?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use your VIN to obtain the correct harness. There isn't a separate harness for the throttle actuator. It is part of the throttle actuator. The same soy based doomed material is used inside the actuator etc. The easy re-build harness is the lower one. Starter, alternator, oil level and oil pressure.

The crappy dead harness I yanked was 124 543 8832 and the newer built replacement I got on Ebay for like $250 was 124 440 1906 and matched perfectly. Mine was a '93 and did NOT have ASR.

Thanks!! That's a big help.

I am still trying to confirm by VIN to make 100% sure I get the correct harness(es?).

The two Russian EPC sites both list 124 543 88 32 as the harness for up to MY 1992 cars, and list 124 440 1906 as starting MY 1993 based on my VIN.

124 543 88 32 is in my car right now and I found a seller who lists 124 440 1906 as the updated Delphi-made replacement for the 400E so I might jump on it if I can confirm it is the proper unit.
