Both aux fans out of order....!?

Well what are the odds my friends???

If I jump the pressure switch from the AC, the relay activates and I have power trough the resistor. But no life from the fans.
I checked the 2-pin connector close to the dryer and I have 12V on one female pin and earth on the other female pin.
So far so good. So I have power so far in the circuit.

But measuring the 2-pins that goes to the fans I get NO connection between them.... And they are connected in PARALLEL!!!
What are the odds of 2 fans shot???

From what I can see I need to remove the radiator to gain access to the 10mm screw at the top that holds the metal bar that goes across the top beam and the bumper.
Then remove the bumper to gain access to the 10mm screw in the back of the bumper.
All this to be able to take out the double fan unit.... aahh..

Anyone been through this before??

The car is a W124 300TE 24v -91.

(Yes, I have used "search" but no one have had this problem....)

Edcarls has done this with pictures....he helped me with once....

Have you removed the connector from the temp sensor on the thermostat? they should come on full speed.....

Edit: here http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w124...ever-ends.html

Honestly, i just rotated mine a couple of times with my hand without taking anything out...it fixed itself, probably was dirty inside.....

I never bothered to do that as the fans should come on with the AC pressure switch.
I even bypassed the resistor to get full power to the fans. But no sir, no cigar.
I then measured the resistor and it's all good.

The thing is that I have full power out to the 2-pin connector that is connected to the dual fans.
So there must be something wrong with BOTH fans as they are routed in parallel... as I stated.

Nice pics.

That's good, then I don't need to completely remove the radiator.

Thanks man!

There are many threads on how to clean the brushes to get some extra life out of them, along with tapping the cones with a mallet. My first thing would be to take some wire, unplug the fans and put power directly to the fans to see if they spin. There is a strip fuse at the firewall that is suspect just like the blower motor strip fuse.

Don't look for a strip fuse for the aux fans on your car. It doesn't have one. The 400E's do.

Yes, I just got a reply about the motors.
I just thought it would be so strange that both motors would give up. But as the car has stood still for 3 Years, I would guess some cleaning would be in order.

As I have earlier described in my post, I DO have power all the way to the 2-pin connector to the fans and good earth too.
I removed the contacts (even) from the intact power resistor to get full ampere but still no life from the fans.
And as I also mentioned, I measured the fan connector and got no connection on the fans.

So I will remove the fan unit and give it a go.

Yes! Thanks for clearing that up.
From the schematics my car should not have that fuse.
And for sure, EVEN if my car WOULD have that fuse, it would be working as I DO have full power to the fans.
