Looking for any info?? I have got my hands on a total loss 1990 300E 24 and I am wondering if this engine is the same as the 300CE 24 that was sold in North America? The engine code is 104-980 on the door. It is a rear hit and not repairable but I am thinking of putting the drive line in my wagon. I can tell you one thing I drove the car and it moves!! I was very supprised. Any info on what I might have is appriciated. Thanks Grant.
Same motor as US 300CE's from 90 - 92 and R129 300SL's from 90-92. Twin cam 228 hp. 7M rpm redline. If you get the motor, get the EZL as well. It is unique to that engine and will not run without it. Also, get the control module and OVP behind the battery and the instrument cluster. If you can, get the entire rear subframe. Rear gear is a 3.27 from the R129. larger housing and shorter axels.
The EZL is the ignition control unit, located on the inner left fender well, behind the ABS pump. The OVP relay (over voltage protection relay) is a silver box, vertical mounted, with a plastic henged top on it. Located behind the battery.

Thanks for the info, I have the whole car in my driveway. Grant
