Transmission pump gear...which way up???

Okay I've run into a little problem...
The pump gear as shown in this picture has an arrow. I swear when I removed it, the arrow was pointing up the same way I took the picture...I know this because like my previous photos in my thread over at mbworld I put tape on everything labeled "F#" for "FRONT FACING + NUMBER#" It was facing up.

The FSM states: "Insert pump gear in such a way that the chamfer (arrow) points down to the primary pump housing"

The ATSG states: "Insert pump gear so that the bezel (arrow) points to the radial roller bearing"

I believe that means that the arrow should be engine-side, not transmission side, or upside down than the picture above, right?
I'm confused which way I should put it back now Anybody here remember which way they did it? I looked at the gear over and over and I can't tell any difference between top and bottom so maybe it doesn't make a difference? At this point though I don't want to make a silly mistake.

What does that key align to? on the inner radius of the inner gear?

Shouldn't that align with something in one direction or the other? The picture makes it appear as if it only goes half way across the depth.

I don't think the FSM *or* ATSG guide statements are relevant to the issue at hand.
Regarding the FSM statement "Insert pump gear in such a way that the chamfer points down to the primary pump housing." That is referring to a chamfer on the OD of one side of the inner "gear," not any arrows. If you lift out the pump inner "gear" I'm sure you'll see that the OD on the back has a chamfer.
As for the ATSG statement "Insert pump gear so that the bezel points tothe radial roller bearing." WTF? Bezel? Radial roller bearing? I have no idea what they're talking about.
I could be wrong ere but I think that arrow stamped on the pump inner rotor is a match mark. If you rotate it you should find that it aligns with a similar mark on the outer rotor. Depending on the number of teeth on the inner and outer rotors the same teeht will make contact again and again. The arrows are used to synchronize them.
