Was browsing the Craigslist and found a color I've never seen before. To my surprise, even though it looks like a chocolate milkshake, I like it! For some reason it going with the W124 sedan look very well. The interior is a perfect match to the exterior color. Paint Code: 475. It's a beautiful 1994 75k mile example.

Dealer United States (USA) (705)
Interior leather mushroom (265)
Paint
475 nutria metallic (с 01.01.1992)
65 Unknown code

I never knew Mercedes offered this color for W124.

Bornite looks really good, another one of those unique colors.

Do you have sample images of how malachite looks like?

Nutria is definitely a very good, warm color. Reminds me of chocolate, almost want to bite into it :D

Could these rare and unique colors be the same as what MB did with the 190E when they released 3 "special" colors in the last year of the model range?

As most of you guys do (I'm sure), I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for 124s. It seems that Benz offered some really nice colors, but the vast majority of the cars I see are one of 3 or 4 colors. The early cars seem to be white, smoke silver, navy blue, or charcoal. Didn't buyers think the other colors were nice back then? If they bought them, where did they go? I don't see them on the roads. I don't see them in the salvage yards. Dark green, light green, aqua, burgundy, where are they? I'd like to see a chart showing the distribution of colors over the years. It seems that about half of the recent production Benzs I see are silver. Maybe it's a regional thing.

Always looking around for something different. I would love to get my hands on a Cabernet TE with wither the grey or darker red moulding. But instead I just have boring old smoke silver. Bornit with a violetgrey moulding would be nice too. I dont know where all there have gone. Lots of great colors on the w126's in town. Trying to get my hands on a teal blue metallic 300SEL with tan tex that is sitting down the street

You could special order pretty much any color you wanted on a 124, if you were willing to wait a few months for the car to arrive from Germany. I think that's how this Nutria car came to be... highly unlikely it was a dealer stock item.

I too am sick of the same half-dozen colors on the vast majority of 124's. I would love to locate an E420 in Garnet Red Metallic (Almandine Rot, in German) with black interior, with all options. But alas, I'm stuck with 199 (Pearl Black), one of my LEAST favorite colors (sorry, Casey!). There is a definite lack of blues, greens, and reds out there... 'tis a real shame.
