Unhappy Aaaargh the squeaky water pump! Just makes me wheep

Intermittent squeak coming from engine on cold starts has turned into something louder and now...about a tablespoon of coolant dribbles out of the water pump.

I just added a bottle of Bar's Leaks Stop Leak (the heavy duty version of it) and took it out and drove it hard to get the engine warm and to get that additive fully integrated into the cooling system. I will be shocked if I wake up and there are no drips of coolant in my driveway. Will let you guys know if I preserved my water pump a few more weeks/months. I have used the regular Bar's Leaks stuff for years and it is as advetised; the stuff just works and does it without ruining your engine or clogging your blasted heater core. Mechanics know that it works.

We shall see if the E320 is the exception when it comes to this stuff or if it goes down another success story in my journal of "car concoctions in a can"

The things that make that list right now are:
Bar's Leaks Stop Leak (the original)

Anything else that should be on here that is not (besides Seafoam)?

Soundquest, I sympathize, but you don't want that leak to stop if it's coming from the weep hole. Once that happens it's an indicator the inner seal has begun to fail and hot coolant is now washing over the bearing...which is not a good thing. A blown seal isn't fixed by Bar's Leaks, alumaseal or anything else...only by replacement.

I'd also be cautious about driving it hard if the WP bearing is being exposed to coolant; if that bearing fails you may be replacing a radiator and a few other things besides a simple water pump.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
