Since we got the W123 thread, I figured I'd make a W124 One. :)

Anyways, I'll start first. I washed it after my W123, took it out for a ride to test the Turbo on route one, I raced an Eclipse (NOT A Fair race, that's the kids fault for challenging me!), Did a 0-60 Test 6 Seconds, Tested top Speed did over 149 MPH (The car is SICK now with the turbo!), It's got 360 HP.

Yes, the Turbo cost money, but I did the work myself I'm a mechanic so I'm lucky with labor. ;-). And, to answer your question I did it on Route one with very little traffic.

I got the new lower arm because the joint on my 3-month old one gave up. I'm not going to spend $300x4 every year in arms so I got the old model arm with changeable joint, changed the joint, put in new rubber bushings and tomorrow it goes in.. :)

oh and it got new brake pads today... ATE original ;)

Glad your not driving around the US.

The lower control arms for all 124.034's have non-replacable ball joints.

Your installing a 300E lower arm which is not meant for your car.
Early 500E's used the 3007/3107 arm but MB went to the 3407/3507 arms later.
You don't have an early 124.036, do you??

For someone who argued about a superceeded EZL on a 500 SEL W140
your really out there on this one, and over saving a few euro's.

Any way back to the topic, tomorrow I'm installing Goodrige braided steel brake lines and ATE blue fluid.

Repacking the front wheel bearing as well.

I fixed my blower motor today, doubled checked the outside fuse and changed one in box. Also ran hot wire to motor just to make sure the motor or blower resistor weren't
dead. Probably just a little corroision.
Now its blowing again like it should, thanks again JR

Fender roll

Need the fenders rolled? I know it might be a sin to mention it, being a Shade tree type thing, but alot of old hot rodders used to use a WOODEN baseball bat to do the rolling, I have done it on a number of cars, including recenly a friends 240. I am just about to give it a go on my w124, Ill let you know how it turns out... If your thinking about trying it in the meantime, Remember WOOD! not aluminum. Wood gives, aluminum does not. The perscribed method is to park your car on a level ground and put it in neutral. Then have a friend lift the car to give you space to get the bat between the tire and fender. Then all that is left is to roll the bat back and fourth through the wheel well. Again I have not done this on a mercedes, but I have done it with great results on other cars.

Im sure there is some info out there on the net.

Installed Hella Euro headlights several days ago. Also installed euro vaccum headlight adjusters and routed all the necessary vaccum lines.

Today, adjusted headlight levels, replaced bulbs in headlight switch and switch trim, emissions test and renewed tabs

I reset the 'check engine' light...again.

A small price to pay in order to not have the delayed upshift rubbish when 'cold'.

Headed out to see if our local "DC Motor and Alternator Troll" has made finished installing new brushes in a salvage blower motor for my 94 Coupe.

I really shouldn't kid, as the guy is a true gem. He did a couple Porsche alternators for me couple years ago and saved me a bundle....new bushings, brushes and a nice OE paint finish on the cases for something like $50 dollars each. That said, it is hoot to visit his shop...he usually comes of the back wearing about three layers of shirts, a forehead mounted monocle and worn fingerless leather gloves.

Not sure whether he best fits Dickens or Ray Bradbury, but he is worthy to be a part of some great book. Generators, motors and alternators are his life and each of of them is alive to him. He really likes German ones..."big and beefy" he generally opines.

Great upgrade. I've been doing this on my motorcycles for years.

The Goodridge lines are DOT & TUV approved. The brake pedal is much more firm.

The best part is they don't cost much more then stock rubber lines.

I paid $114 online.

I'm working on a radiator hose leak. I re-filled the R134A for my A/C to prepare for summer. Just going through some routing spring checks before summer heat hits. Checked the tire wear and planning to clean and detail the interior tomorrow.

Drove it to my lacrosse tournament today...

I couldn't help but look past that magnificent trophy that was awaiting my team and saw the nose of my car peeking out from in between the new E-class and S-classes I park next to.

That's all I did....stare at it.

We went 3-0 in the tournament today, btw. We have semi finals and finals tomorrow.

I enjoyed having a sunroof, even if it does make the roof vinyl 'wave'.

I need to look into getting some black vinyl so the interior is 100% black.

Also, I tweaked the Alpine head unit to reflect my desire in speaker delay, that way, even though the RF speaker is closest...well, the door speaker is, but low frequencies are omni-directional, I can change when sound is produced at each loudspeaker so I am 'center stage', regardless.

Neat, but it takes a while to get it just right.

Passengers? Screw 'em. They need to be listening to, and appreciating, just how tight a 15 year old, properly engineered & built car can be!

I love Alpine decks i have one in my other car. once you get the delay and freq setup the are fantastic. I used to hate when the battery got disconnected and i had to start all over again.

I brought the car and left it there today to a local Mercedes specialist to have some parts ordered, like the central locking pump that is faulty. Also, I had them check the freakin broken electric seat motor on the driver side, where only one side (i.e. back left, the front part is ok) can be raised and was stuck at an angle of something like 20 degrees max. I wish I had the time to fix it but I have to work and fix up the Honda.

Today, I rolled down the windows for the first time after getting my window 35%/20% window tint and I washed the car. The car gets constant compliments and stares and I love it. In the last few weeks I got AMG wheels, tints and some bodywork and it feels like I went from driving a run of the mill car to a sexy lean and mean sports sedan. Long live the W124!!

replaced the hood star today, played with the thermo-switch. I bought one that should trigger the aux fan at 80/85 and not at 90/100 (I think) which came with the car. i went around to buy parts and meet clients w/ this thing at a very relaxing speeds, which is kinda dangerous because it makes me feel sleepy lol
