Anyone have ideas on the cure for wipers that cycle at will with the switch turned off. They will always be in delay mode when cycling at will and I have to twist the knob on then off and they will turn off for a while then cycle again over and over with no consistency. I had previously had turn signal problems and removed the multi-relay and cleaned all the contracts inside of it. The turn signals are now perfect but still have the wiper problem the same as before. I really think that the fusebox cover is warped and was putting pressure on the relay and causing some of the problems. I reinstalled the relay without its plastic cover and then installed the fuse box cover.
Anyone been here before, please chime in.....
Not sure "why" the cover is warped but it seems to be concave in nature....Before I cleaned the relay it would be fine in colder weather or in the mornings but when the temperature rose the turn signals/flasher would stop working and the wipers would start dancing at will.....It just seemed that the cover was putting pressure on the relay cover (really tight clearance) and when it was cooler the cover was fine but would warp/extend when the temperature rose....I purchased a brand new turn signal lever and it did not change anything..that was before I was informed about the multi relay..
Since you've already done the turn signal stalk, I would cover all the bases by putting in a brand new wiper relay and finish things up with a new fuse box cover.
Did any moisture/water or other contaminants (dust, sand, etc.) get inside the fusebox??? If so, I would remove all fuses and replace them as well. Take out all the relays, and dry each relay (a couple of minutes using the hair dryers carefully) as well as the bare fuse box with a hair dryer or equivalent. If crud got inside the box, suck it out with a shop vac or so.
