Hi, I've driven pre 1985 mercedes all my driving life and am fairly familiar with a range of models from the late 60's to 1985..mostly 280's, my current car being a 1985 280E W123.
I am now thinking seriously of upgrading(slightly) to a 1991 W124 300E which has 170,000kms on the clock and full log books. The car appears to be very well maintained by the previous (one) owner and is in good aesthetic order, excellent, in fact.
I would like to get some feedback, both positive and negative from current and previous owners of this model, and in particular, this year, as I am aware that the first of the W124's that came out in 86 had some issues with the engine head...valve guide problems and so on..thanks
Less engine issues and more common 124 issues are.
A/C issues that require dash removal.
Engine wiring harness 600-1500 in parts alone.
Blower motor strip fuse. It makes the whole system not work costs 1 dollar lol.
Tune up kinda spendy but all MB's are, but they go alot longer between them. I had to just replace this year the original coils. Last owner did not do proper maint.
