I need instructions on reseting "learned driving".
Apperantly these are the instructions:
1) Turn key to 2nd/ON position. Press down gas pedal all the way for at least 10-15 seconds.
2) Release gas pedal. Turn key to OFF position, but leave the key in. Wait a few minutes.
3) Take key out.
Is this correct for my 1995 W124 E200? If not, what is the correct way?
I'm not sure any W124 has that. It is a feature of the newer electronically controled transmissions there were put into post-facelift (98+) W210s, possibly sooner in W140.
But to be honest, when driving like crazy with my 400E, I did notice the tranny shifts different (aggressively), and sort of "adapts"... Probably just in my mind though ;-)
Zviratko, i tried the above instructions. Its seems to work as the car did respond to the reset with a small bumb sound after i released the accelerator.
After that i drove the car and did note a slight change. Could be in my mind though too!
the W124 E400, 420 and 500 never came to New Zealand or Australia. must be a thrill driving them!
Makes absolutely no difference. ALL the W124's, regardless of year, have the old transmission. The kick down button behind the accelerator pedal is a BIG clue
I think even some of the W202 and W210's came with the old tranny. not sure.
I had old tranny in both C280 and W210. Only facelift models got the electronical gearbox that could be reset. Earlier to be found only in W140 and maybe SL/CL etc...
ok guys, How then do i fix the lathergic driving i'm experiencing? my car has done 90,000kms since new, there isnt anything wrong with it, its serviced religiously and taken very good care of. So why then is its takeoff so lazy? It hasnt always been like this. There is no slack on accelerator cable, transmission has been serviced. So what am i missing here?
