Could latest ATF cure shift isue?

Hello to you all!

My 93 280TE with 4 speed auto (722.4) and 99K has a harsh 1-2 shift which happens at random and it's really annoying.

Over the past 2 years I had the fluid and filter changed three times. The box was adjusted by a reputable automatic gearbox specialist and a new modulator was fitted several months ago. I also put an additive which name I cannot remember just now.

Things did improve considerably but the car is still not right

I was looking at latest spec ATF (like Titan Fuchs 6000) and wondering if there is any mileage in trying them in my car. They are compatible with previous spec ATF and I wonder if their improved properties could do anything for my car.

I would appreciate any comments/info you may have.

As always, thank you very much.

Are you sure it's down to the ATF? I had the same issue I just changed my Coolant Temperature sensor and my problem went away.

Yap. The moment I would slow down on an intersection, I would have trouble picking up speed again.

Thanks Kenshaaka

Does the auto box receive input from the temp sensor?
If that is the case, which one since my car seems to have two sensors in and around the thermostat housing.

Saludos

Hmm...I don't understand how coolant temp can affect the transmission.

Unlikely the shifting problem related to ATF as well since you already have fresh ATF in it. Anyway,Dexron VI has much better spec than Dexron III. You can give it a try.
