Tranny leak on e320 wagon

Hello all,

The wagon is piddling tranny fluid. I had it up on a lift (stopped in to a local shop) and it looks like it may be coming from the output shaft seal. Anyone had experience replacing this seal? The leak is definitely not from the pan gasket. Anything else that may be the culprit? I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Todd

You Can replace it in the car..it's not fun, but it can be done..

Should you decide to change it out loosen the engine mounts/shocks so the engine can lean further down then usual. The output shaft nut is a 30mm 12pt if I remember correctly..

Without having a look I'd just be grabbing straws.

Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan. I found a little shop in Hilton Head, that put it up on a lift for me. No leaks around the pan, so I suspect the output shaft seal. Thanks for the help (you're the man, as usual).

Hope things are well in ATL,
Todd
