im a first timer er from aus have a question for anyone who see this what is required to put a w201 2.3 16v into a w124 and is a 2.3 8v wha t changes are required for change such as the computers and other modules or are they compatible
I've seen this done before, there was a w124 in the shop that I go to that had the 2.3 16v engine on it, AFAIK, no w124 ever came out of the factory with this engine so I'm pretty sure that it was a conversion.

back in W201 camp...
...there was a saying; an M102 Cosworth (4 cylinder 2.3/2.5 16V) = M103 (6 cylinder 2.6 12 valve)
Well to be exact it was about 15 hp difference. but in the defense of the M103, the W201(190E) was a smaller car, therefore even if the M103 did produce a lot less HP, the weight difference on the W201 and W124 was dramatic enough that, a lot of W201 enthusiasts preferred a 1993 W201 Sportline w/ an M103 2.6/6 cylinder than an M102 (2.3/2.5 16V.). sure Cosworth is a name, but like a HEMI, it's pretty much a just another engine once it leave it's original body.
IMO, why bother with the conversion, save your time and money. Test drive a '87-89 260E and see for yourself.
I'm was in that dilemma a few months ago, deciding to rebuild a E320 with an M119, it didn't make sense, when I could very well buy an E420 for a lot less $$$. Not to mention the price difference of upgrading an E320(M104) with a TT Kit or any type of Supercharger, or even an AMG 3.6 M104(276 HP) when the mileage of an E420 and an E320 in so mñute, but he HP is over 50+.
Bottom line, as I learned here in the forum; see what is already available out there for a lot less money and effort before you decide to make something that could be a waste of your money and time or even worst a "money pit" of developmental problems.

IF THAT REAR WING WORKS, WE WILL HAVE TO REBUILD THE BMW TUNNEL... and so they did!!!
