Seems about right. I've seen on the news large sedans being hit at a stop light by a semi going full highway speed. It's not pretty. No survivors. You're lucky you wern't stopped!
Yes of course, glad to hear your alive and well. I as well have a 93 400E and hope to never part with my baby in anyway similar. No thank you.
I can see why you will purchase MB's from now on. However what are better, the early 90's or late model sedans?
If you still have your baby you should contact MB in Germany for them to add to their museum as a safety display piece. Or since many people, including my self I'll admit, can use some parts you could piece it out.
I hope you won't have to go through another experience like that ever again.
I hated to let the 400E go for salvage but I had no choice. Since I live in Washington state and the accident happened in Iowa I would have had to have it trucked which I did not want to pay for. I could have used parts and I know could have sold more than enough to recoup expenses but I chose to let her go. I am still working with the insurance on a value for my car. Thanks.

Outside of Omaha I slowed down for an accident but the semi in back of me failed to realize that I had slowed down. Right in front of the State Patrolman the semi barreled into the rear of my 400E going full bore. We (my 400E and me) were thrown across the road and into a ditch. After using the jaws of life, the rescue team pulled me from my faithful friend. The car collapsed as designed to do protecting the passenger compartment. The passenger compartment remainded intact, even the seats remained upright and complete. I thank God for the design and safety of my 400E. I will miss my friend but at the same time am so thankful to be alive. Needless to say, I will be purchasing a replacement MB. I will attach photos when I get them.
Whoa. Aren't you glad you were in a Mercedes over any other car ?
