Being "stock" is where the value is. The interior is just bad and not in keeping with the car or the period. It's usually the last owner that radically alters a "classic car" interior - or he ends up taking a beating on the resale. Sorry but the interior does not enhance the car's value. (In my book anyway.)
VIN looks more like a UPS tracking number and doesn't have seventeen digits.
Interior is horrible, front spoiler and side cladding not fitting properly.
Why paint and reupholster a 50K+ mile vehicle that is more valuable as a "survivor" ?
Takes a great deal faway from originality.
IMHO total phony. Looks like they attempted an honest recreation, but the interior, motor, and fit and finish give it away. Its a nice looking car (though as pointed out, the front spoiler could use a re-fitting), but not more than 15k nice.

To me, a car's worth is in what it IS. Obviously I'm not a rare car collector, so I can't speak for those who are, but I would never pay even half that much for this car even if it is the real deal. I love the 124, but not that much!
It seems to me this seller is trying to hide something, buyer beware.

The revised VIN ( Still incorrect W0....should read WD.... ) indicates the car was originally a Canadian market delivery.
The fuel requirement sticker on the dash in the French language confirms same.
The ducktail should have the chrome Star and AMG emblems which are put on by AMG.
The 2 valve engine is also very unusual and the engine compartment has no AMG markings.
