I decided to sell my truck and get a more comfortable utility vehicle. I haven't had a W124 since my '87 300E. Where can I find information on running changes and data specific to the wagons?

Always nice to find another conniseur of the finest automobile ever manufactured. Anything you need to know can be asked here. You'll be amazed at the depth of knowledge. We're all "Benz Mensch". Most specs and data can be easily found on line. You'll want to check the wiring harness, head gasket, evaporator and transmission function. Once those problem areas are addressed, it's a remarkably reliable vehicle. Great choice for a utility vehicle. I had ten sheets of dry wall in mine the other week.

Save yourself the trouble of market over-research - if you're buying a gasser (which, you pretty much have to, since the diesel is '87 only and overpriced right now), then find yourself a 1994-1995 wagon with under 100k miles on it. Watch out for evaporator leaks (you can search that one), engine wiring harness (that one too!), and get one that's has proof of regular fluid changes including the tranny.
I drove a '95 diesel sedan around for a few years, then sold it for the w210 wagon (which I love). But, I just bought back into a 1987 w124 AMG and there is something quite special about the w124. I love driving that car.

I sold a Durango and picked up a '90 4matic for under $4K. They are known to have 4matic issues, but I use it for winters and grocery getting mainly. For the price, it's a great alternative vehicle.
I did have to do a blower motor, muffler and head gasket after buying, but I've had it for 3 reliable years now.
