Fuel Door Vacuum Element

What is the proper way to remove the interior lining of the trunk to get at it?

You have about 4 or 5 little metal "tongues" that hold the fuel tank cover in place. These tongues can be found on the higher part of the trunk.

After removing that panel, both side panels may take some effort to be removed but AFAIK nothing is holding them to the sheetmetal like the other panel.

Good luck.

I will need to peal away the carpeted trunk lining first. There are plastic studs holding it in place and I'm not sure if I should consider them reusable or just cut through them?

From personal experience, I've reused them with no problems so far...

How did you leverage the studs out?

Just use a thin screwdriver and pull the center part of the plastic stud.

Tha outer part is the "female", that spreads when you push the male in...

(now that didnt sound right )
