Hi, just bought a 88 300e and it idles fine when cold, but when warm it idles a little over 500 rpm... I took my ovp relay and when i shake it i hear tick tick tick from the relay... Also my abs light came on and off...I shouldn't hear anything from the relay when i shake it right?
That sure resolved my issue. I live in a state that emissions are required, would not pass emissions at all. I had to took a trip to my mechanic. He stated that the first sign that the brain/computer is not receiving power is when the ABS light comes on. He stated it was a common problem. He replaced the relay behind the battery and everything was smooth from that point. I believe that is the one you're referring too? The idle was much better afterwards and the ABS light went off and stayed off. I have 92 300ce.
If the relay was bad wouldn't the check engine light come on, and my car passed emissions....Yes , it sits behind the battery with a red top and two fuses. How do u you test the relay??
Hi, Did U find an answer for your problem, I have an 300E 3.2L and it is idling and accelerating rough when it gets wormed up. I am also looking for a code reader for that car, Thanks in advance.
Update: Just installed new wires and spark plugs, and problem is still there...I'm thinking it could be the water temperature sender on the cylinder head that's not telling the computer the right information?
