86 300E exhaust replace
just bought a low miles (65k) 1986 300e and the original rear muffler is shot. How difficult is it to DIY this repair? I have minimal tools and fair car repair skills. Does the rear muffler fit inside the middle muffler at the slip joint? Would a hack saw suffice? wjere can you jack the car with floor jack? I'm mostly an old Mopar guy so far humor me!

Rear muffler entry pipe goes over end of middle muffler exit pipe (resonator? Someone please correct.) and is secured with u-clamp (mine is, anyway.) New rubber hangers are a matter of course, and put the trolley jack lifter under the big rubber blocks which are under the car just in from the sills, and for that very purpose. The blocks are in line with the capped points built into the sills to accept the wheel-changing jack. They thought of very nearly everything...
