ya know, the w202 C-class looks a lot like the w124 on the inside, and appears to have similar dimensions/proportions inside-out. did the two share more components than usual? is the w202 a tweaked continuation of the w124 in disguise???
I see you have both a 124 and a 202. As did I. Since you're not bitching about your C230 I can only assume your experience with it has been fairly good, unlike mine with a C280. Fairly knowledgable about Benzes, and fairly mechanical, I assumed the 202 would be a worthy succesor. Wrong-o! I was constantly chasing electrical and emissions gremlins, and opening my wallet way too often. The snow gods smiled, and a kiss along a guard rail ended up being a blessing. Buh-bye! Similar? Chassis maybe. Trannies a little. Engines nope. That other stuff I already mentioned? Fuheddaboutit!
Sorry, my C class experience evokes Post Traumatic Stress outbreaks. But honestly, I heard the C230 was the best of all of them. Hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of it and the dreaded CEL stays unlit!

Not really.
Size wise the W202 was similar to the W201.
The W124 is about 9" longer and has about a 5" longer wheelbase.
Interior of the w124 is larger then the W202.
Early W202's shared some mechanical components with the later W124's as they overlapped in the final production year of the W124.
Different animals. I had almost the same exact mechanical problems on both. Both shared similar M104 engines. The W124 is much larger inside and drives so much better on the highway. The W202 is more fun to drive in the city or twisty roads due to its smaller dimensions. When I first bought/drove the W124my first comment was "this is a true Mercedes."

I have the W124 TT coupe and a 99 W202 C43...
Can't deny the W202 is smaller, but it is one of the last chassis along with the W140 that I would consider a "true Mercedes"...
Start with the later chassis and the interiors seem less "Mercedes" !!!
Visually they may appear a little simillar, but the ride feel and comfort are tottally different, my 95 124 is much heavier than my gf's c230, and I've noticed on snow the W202's are just terrible.... Otherwise not a bad car to drive around.
