Please Help, IM looking at a 1992 MERCEDES BENZ 400E that has 200,000 miles on it and the transmission slips when it is cold, but when it warms up the car runs fine, for example, i went to look at it today and we started it it ran fine, so a minute later we tried to pull out of the lot and the car was driving like it was in nutral, we said oh no the transmission is problly shot, but then the car started to warm up and it ran fine, purrs like a kitten at 200,000 miles but as my first car i am worried that the tranmission might have problems or if the fluid could just be low or bad, other than that the car is mint, some one please help and tell me what it is, thank you soooo much, bye
When buying any used car and more so one that has 200k on it, find an indy MB shop in the area and take it in for a pre purchase inspection. It is WELL worth the money (probably $100-$150) to know EXACTLY what you are getting in to.
thanx alot i love the help but, theres no shops around here which sucks, and i cant change the oil i havent bought the car yet i just want to know if the tranys good or bad?

I myself have not used them but a friend of mine did and he was happy with the service. they will go to the car and inspect. I believe they hire local mechanics looking to make a few bucks on the side.
I saw the report and while it was not super detailed, it was comprehensive enough to get an idea what a buyer is getting in to.
