CarFax monitors forums and such for request just like the mentioned. You won't find any takers. If you have the money to buy the car, then you have the money to spring for the carfax report.

You might try asking the dealer where you are wanting to buy the car to run one for you. They usually have an account. OR, if you know a salesman at the Benz dealer, they will sometimes do it.

But I agree, if you are going to drop $4K+, drop the $20. Just remember the CarFax MAY NOT give you everything, just that which is reported. A pre purchase inspection is worth as much or more. The Car Fax will provide you with good title information and MAYBE wreck information.

Joey, you are hopelessly lost. Carfax is a business. They built a data base of information, expending considerable time and money, on the premise that they could sell that information. If that information is given away on the internet or anywhere else their business model is invalid. They go out of business in spite of having invested in and established a viable useful service. Protecting Carfax in this respect is an essential element of the rule of law. The rule of law is essential to any civilized society. It is not a question of how small the infraction but the legal principal. If this site condones and participates in unlawful acts it will most certainly be shut down, as all the music piracy sites have been shut down. This is something that any business person should know.

Thank you for the dissertation about CarFax. I am quite well aware that it is a business. But it is not about CarFax or just getting a free report from one of us. It is about being a smart ass about it and the Sticky posts. You could have informed Rahxi that these reports are requested from the company itself in the internet and/or to maybe clarify to him that the information he was requesting cannot be obtained in other way. Instead, you start belittling him and making comments such as "if you can afford a Mercedes, then you can afford to get this report". What he can do with his money or how, is none of your concern. You can keep your prima dona scorned bitch comments to yourself.

My reaction to the post is not by any means extreme and/or unusual for this forum. I have been e-mailed by other people with the same sentiments as mine and they have pulled out of the forum to go to more civilized forums. Unfortunately, you are also there. Well, I suppose that in reality, I do not have to be a part of this forum either. But I am sick and tired of seeing post after post with the same rudeness to people who innocently seek help from you purported "experts" - thus, my reaction.
