I just ran a carfax on the 1992 500e I bought yesterday. I've always felt carfax was useless other than to verify mileage.... But I still run it everytime.
I'd be happy to run ANYONE's VIN (of course I would have to be interested in buying your car to do so...) - just PM me your vin and your email address.
These forums are for helping each other out wherever possible & I have no problem with someone posting to ask.

Better than debating the finer points of how much rudeness is proper in response to an obviously unlawful request, I think better that the moderators just delete these threads.

Compassion for our fellow man? What about the victim of the crime? Bahnstormer is either a Carfax plant or he's not getting it. He and the original poster can commit all the heinous acts they wish - that's between them and Carfax. The point is they shouldn't use this forum to find each other.
I agree with you on that. It is like piracy in a way. But I think it would be illegal if he were to charge the other guy for the info. But if he offers it for free, then it is between them. When you sign up with CarFax for one year, I believe that you can get as many reports as you want on as many cars as you want. I don't believe it says that the user must be the buyer of the vehicle. But, yes, someone must pay for the service. Personally, I would not ask anyone to run a CarFax for me.

Im aswell Willing to help run Reports as long as you PM me the VIN when you Put it in Public one there are issues with Identity and stuff but also car fax sends people out. I use Auto check and willing to help a fellow Member out
The Carfax agreement is for personal use only - selling them or giving them away violates the agreement. There is no annual unlimited agreement for consumers - that's the dealer agreement. A dealer can print reports for prospective customers but the subscription is quite a bit more expensive. The consumer agreement is air tight - run reports for anyone else and you can be cancelled. But do as you please - you just shouldn't do it here.
Folks, I did not think that this would have been felt so deeply, and I apologize for any inconveniences caused. Debating the issue of car fax is not why I am here.
