What's a Euro spec 260E worth... or What would you pay?
I come from the w201 world... I stumbled upon a '90 eurospec 260e. It looks to have been sitting well over a year judging by the way the tires look... nearly flat. It's a bare bones car; cloth interior, crank windows, manual HVAC, no cruise, no sunroof... the list of stuff it doesn't have is bigger than the stuff it does. That's what's interesting about it though. The owner lives overseas (so I'm told) and it's now the property of the person who owns the lot it's parked in. It's got a For Sale sign in the window that has several prices crossed out the last one being $1900. It's got 160,000 Kilometers on it the paint and interior are in good condition. I know what I'd pay for a eurospec 190e in the same condition... what would you pay?
I'd say it's worth that, if it runs well and doesn't have any major cosmetic problems. Low miles, interesting, fewer gadgets to break - to me that's a desirable car. There are cases where Euro is worth more than U.S. version. Most people would knock it down for Euro - I'd probably pay more, actually wouldn't have any interest at all in the U.S. version. If it was a stick it would certainly be worth more than its U.S. counterpart.
Bob if you are not going to buy it let me know, i might be intrested to get it for myself.
I will... It's about 3/4 of a mile away from the Ferry. An easy pickup. I'm going to look at it and maybe drive it (as much as I can) Friday or Saturday.
Thats a steal, thats just at 100k miles.
I drive a Euro Spec 230E with cloth interior, manual HVAC, no sunroof and wind up windows in the back only the front have auto windows This is basically the same car with a bigger engine. I would be all over this if I didnt have what I have
