no oil pressure. could the oil pump be the only problem?

it's on a '95 E320. when i start the car, i get no oil pressure reading from the gauge. at times it may climb close to the 1 but then drops quickly and stays down the whole time. like my question says, is the oil pump the only thing i should worry about? what else should i look for? thanks.

get a new oil pressure sensor stat.

the oil pressure is the most important reading of the engine. more than engine temperature. if you drive the car with low oil pressure you run the risk of hearing expensive noises.

caveat emptor
