Help i'm getting coolant in my windshield washer tank
Let me start with some history. My 1990 300e was leaking water which I discovered was from the water pump. After much work(the two screws in the back were a pita to get out) I was able to replace the pump. After puting everything back and connecting all the hoses i find he coolant water in the winshield washer tank. Where did I go wrong? I did not replace the thermostat could this be the issue?
Also this was my first time at this project and I don't think I refitted the tensioner correctly? I'm hearing some squealing which i'm attributing to a loose belt? Any help would be appreciated.

There is a belt tensioner shock and a belt tensioner pulley. If the pulley is bad, it won't matter how much you adjust it. Check both.
Doesn't the washer fluid heating unit have hot water circulating through it?
If it does and it's leaking, could coolant be entering that way?
I'm not sure how that works, so it's just a guess.

Coolant is circulating through your windshield washer fluid tank to heat the fluid within the tank. If it is leaking into your washer fluid tank, then there is a leak somewhere in the coolant line that goes through your washer tank. Fix that leak, and all should be good.
Ward and Mr.Xpowerseller got it. There is a coil in that washer fluid tank that has a leak. I would suggest calling Potomac German and getting a used washer tank or picking up a new one. I don't have one in front of me but I would bet that the coil was placed in and the rest plastiwelded on top to make a unit. I will look tomorrow. If that is the case, just get a newer one. FYI, they get brittle due to age/heat/coolant chemical mixes.
They are nice to have in the winter, heated washer fluid cleaning off show and slush.
wow. how long has heated windshield washing fluid been around?? i think i recently saw it being advertised in a commercial as a "new" feature on a recent car..
