Hello all,
I have an '87 300TD wagon and I've encountered a problem yesterday when I completing the repair of my cruise control. Story goes as follows:
I fixed my cruise control, drove the car around, and then parked it to get ready for work. I get out of the house and sit in the car and turn the ignition. The glow plug indicator flashes on like always and I start the car soon after it goes away. Drive to work was a sinch; no shaking, nice quiet diesel. After my 6 hour shift, I get back into the car and turn the ignition. The glow plug light doesn't hold a steady flash anymore; it blinks. Yet, I can still start the car as if the light were holding its steady flash.
Could this be a problem with the relay, glow plugs, or a lightbulb in the consolse? Should I give a second thought when getting into the diesel or take the E320 to work? I have no problem fixing things; I quite enjoy it really. Thank you for any assistance.

If it's flashing then it's defenetly one of the glow plugs, the exact same thing happend to me on the VW today. Changed the glow plug it was the very first one in line, and the light was steady for 7 seconds then car turned on.
But if you say your car turns over, then I could be wrong about the plug.

Problem solved. Turned out the relay blew when I went to start this morning. Luckily I have a few extra relays lying around, so I replaced and the light goes on and the car starts like it always did.
