Hi All, have noticed the new Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel at the local filling station. Are these any issues using this fuel in my 95 E300, or is this fuel only for the new Bluetec Diesels? Please advise.
I am told that ultra low sulpher diesel fuel is safe for all diesel engines. I have a friend and colleague who worked on diesel fuel additives for improved lubricity for a number of years. One day I was complaining about being forced to use it in my 04 Cummins and he told me that the low sulpher fuels were originally developed for use in Europe and should be safe for all engines. I noticed a 1mpg drop in fuel economy when the US switched. Given a choice, i would use the old stuff for as long as possible
I have been running ULS for about 4 months now and have no problems except lower MPG. Most of the ULS has been B20 which seemed to have cleaned the injectors up. I am running regular ULS now and the engine is still just as smooth as running the B20.
