I reset my trip meter and now the odo stopped working!

So, I reset the trip meter on the 300te and I noticed a day later, it and the odometer both stopped working... Speedo still works and I messed with the little reset button, but nothing.
Any advice?

Happened to my w124 260e a few months back.. did the same thing, pushed the reset button and the odometer stopped working for a day.. noticed though that the counter some what got mis aligned and clicks when running..

What i did was take out the panel and dis assembled it.. inside i saw that the gear connected to the counter had slipped from its place and is not in contact with the other gear at the bottom portion. pushed it in back in place and now its working fine..

Try it, might be the same fix for your problem..

There's a few threads in here about hitting the reset button while the vehicle is moving will sometimes get the gears out of line or even strip them. I've had it happen briefly on my 190 when I didn't push the reset button firmly while stopped. Only a couple times, but pressing it firmly again got it to work.

If the ODO still clicks then just try pushing the reset switch in all the way a couple times. this worked on mine, better than removing the whole thing all together, best of luck

How odd. This is the first Benz quirk I've seen that has a dead-on GM counterpart. I used to have a Z-28 and it regularly (though infrequently) did this.
The fix was the same as the one suggested by lee and ed.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
