Im handing my 300E over to the new owner tonight and I told him I would have it all put back together for him...Well i took the rear seat belts out months ago and now they have wound all the way up in the mechanism and wont unlock. Does anyone know how to unlock these. I really hope I did not damage them some how and yield them inoperable...Thankyou in advance for and help...
Cloak, I don't have specific experience with MB belts but do with Volvo. In Volvo's, they have a pin in them that prevents from letting out slack if the base mechanism where the pin is not perfectly level.
Try playing around with that or mounting them to get them level and then give it a try.
I searched the forum and I found that you also experienced what I am experiencing. I was wondering if you could help me out.
Here is a brief summary of what I am going through:
I purchased my e55 at an insurance auction. The driver's side suspension had the Spindel / Steering Knuckle damaged. It seems like the driver hit a curb. The Spindel was damaged but the body is flawless (no damage on the fender, etc.).
The problem is that the Driver's Side Seat Belts seem to have locked because of the minor accident. The Seat Belts do not reach the Center Push Buckle. I removed the side panel on the driver's side to see if I could fix the problem but when I got to the pulley it would not budge and would not allow the rest of the seat belt to be pulled out. Is this due to a sensor gone bad? Is there a way to unlock the pulley and allow the seat belt to work? Is this common on mercedes that have been in any type of accident (even minor) ?
Do you know how to remove the REAR passenger seat?
E55 isn't a W124 -- try the W210 forum for the people most familiar with your car.
However, if the rear seat cushion retaining method didn't change from the W124, there are two clips located along the front edge of the cushion. Push them rearward to release the cushion.
