windshield wiper motor

im having problems with my windshield wiper ... the wipers does not wipe that well .. when i say it doesnt wipe that well i mean my car only has one wiper and it usuallly does the upside W movement for some odd reason it does the upside down U and the wiper blade would hit the side of my the windshield touchin part of the rubber that insulates the windshield to the car ... any idea? ... i think there's something wrong with the motor ... the motor works but not properly ...

1. Your blade could be shot if it hits the rubber edge . I should clip in place or have a plastic pin to hold it.

2. The cam slide under the hub cover could be loose . If you have loud clicking
metallic sounds when the motor runs / wipes , I bet it needs lube or screws tighten on the side guides.

Try cheap first = new wiper blade $5 -$20

I already bought new wiper blades and it still rub against the rubber edge ... im for sure the windshield motor ... because when the blade move it doesnt go up and down ... it just goes str8 over to the other side like a U ... u get what im saying? .... some metallic sounds ...should i check the screws or lube the motor

A friend had this situation a month ago. Culprit was the gear between the wiper arm & motor that makes it go up & down. You have to pulldown the wiper arm to access the gear.
