I am a new member here, having recently bought an '88 300TE. I found it in Florida with 140K miles on it. Drove it home to Maine. Having a grand time going through and bringing the old girl back up to spec. I replaced all the moving parts in the front end this weekend - that kept me off the streets for a while!
Anyway, today I passed by a small used car lot that has a '90 300TE 4-matic on offer for the grand sum of $1300. A bit rusty and 350K(!) miles. I don't really care if it runs, I am interested in it as a parts car. It has a great interior with the additional wood, a lovely uncracked dash and the seats with the electric lumbar support. Also a nice set of the later wheels. How compatible are things between an '88 and a '90? Seems like I should be able to get a good pile of useful bits for my car and sell the remains.

just about everything can be added to your car from the parts car.
the 4matic stuff will need wholesale removal including the front subframe if thats the direction you want to go, but that would be a step back. its a troubled system but nice when it works.
so hes correct, 90% should fit no problems

Great find! A vast majority of interior and body parts will fit for sure. I'm currently looking for a wrecked or worn out TE with a nice burgundy interior.
