My left headlight died light night and I bought the replacemnt lamp. I have not had any success getting at the lamp to replace it. There seems to be one other screw nearest the yellow/orange parking light that is preventing me from getting at the lamp in order to remove it. I don't want to break any parts, so i would appreciate your help.
That doesn't sound right - there shouldn't be any screws to take out. There's an access cover in the center of the back on the light. There should be some type of retaining clip or tabs to squeeze. This gives you access to back of the bulb, unhooked the wiring plug, turn the bulb a bit and it pulls right out.
When I went to the auto parts store, they said that I would have replace the entire rectangular headlight-lamp. From what you are saying, its only the small CENTER , l lamp that needs to be replaced?
Yes, definitely replace only the bulb, or both sides. There are several alternatives available, many at retail stores, and even the best Silverstars are not that expensive. I just did mine - went for the long life halogen - 10 or 15 bucks each as I recall.
Did you double check your fuses? One fuse that controls one headlight and another fuse controls the other headlight (a third fuse controls the fog lights).
