Do you have any pics? The axle on my 300E cracked during the time I owned it.

What exactly were you doing when this snapping occurred? Also, how many miles on the car and was there rust involved?

If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.

there was no rust, 205,000 KM (canadian car)

i was in the 2 gear position, gear shift all the way down, i was in second reving at about 3500-4000 RPM comming around a corner and then i accelerated flooring the car through the corner at the apex, and then BANG!

at first i thought the drive shaft or possibly the diff was gone, but after examining it found the axel shaft snapped in a spiral motion.

is this a one off rare problem or are we not sapose to drive the cars this way, i am going to be tracking the car quite a bit and would hate to have this happen often. part alone is cose to $1000 CAN.
