US headlight wipers - removal - and use with EURO Headlights

I bought a pair of Euro Headlights which I have now installed. I wanted to use the US headlight wipers with these EURO headlights but I cannot seem to get it out -

Am I missing something? - also since I cannot get them seperated from the US headlights I am not sure if it is compatible with the EURO? .. someone probably must have tried doing this...

At the same time if I decide not to use the wipers at all.... is there a way to get the the new plastics part below the headlight?

The US wipers do not work with the Euro headlights. It just doesn't fit and there have been people with more DIY skills than you and I that have tried. Sorry You have toeither buy the Euro wipers or buy a blank piece to replace the ones below the lights. They are metal by the way.

The sell blanking plate at katmac.com. I removed the wipers from mine and the car looks much cleaner and more modern without them. Plus I don't have to hear comments about "What are they there for? - in case you want to go 4-wheeling?" (Face it the headlight wipers are a gimmick and I doubt if anybody ever had a situation where they were needed to be used.). I think the european headlights will be such an improvement that you will never miss those silly wipers.

here is my 300te after I change to us to european with the european wipers. you will see the difference. for me it looks good with it. from time to time there are people in ebay or in the forum who sells european wipers with the panel. its just easy to install just like the us version. good luck!

I like having those wipers.....its fun in the winter time. Doesn't collect snow and you don't have to brush them off, before leaving for work.

That is about the only use I can see for the wipers. Where I live the heat from the light is enough to keep snow from forming on the headlight. If I park the car outside, I have to brush the rest of the car anyway so the headlights go along for the ride and get brushed also. For me, I rather have the car look better than to have them on there and never use them. If you use them, by all means, keep them on there. If you want the blanking plates with no holes for removing the wipers, they are available at Katmac.com. They we actually very reasonable. The hassle is getting them properly painted. Either way, the european headlights are a great improvement on 93 and earlier models and well worth the extra effort of screwing around with the wipers. Best Luck on your project.

I agree other than in winter those wipers have no functionality - am contemplating what to do ...also depends on how expensive those EURO wipers set can be ??. but

I think they look really nice .....after all it is a Mercedes thing - which was later picked up by Volvo
